Po7-ways-lemons-can-improve-your-healthlarity Is a theme that comes up in spirituality time and time again because it is one of the most important aspects of spirituality across all avenues and spiritual practices. And the reason it is so important is because without opposites, we cannot fully understand what it is we are trying to know.

"In ancient Chinese philosophy, ying and yang is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another." - Wikipedia

So say we take love for example. It is a farce to believe that in order to understand every part of love we simply just need to experience love. Yes, that’s part of it, but what is just as important to experience in order to fully understand love is its opposite. This could be in the form of hatred, in the form of going through a break up, in the form of losing anything! And I’m not saying that I encourage anyone to go through really tough times or to put themselves in positions of hardship. I’m only pointing out the importance of experiencing the opposite of love.

And this is true with any aspect of this life and particularly in spirituality. It is true that in order to understand and see the light, we must understand the dark. That is why life is full of valleys of the lowest, darkest places and mountains of the brightest, fullest skies. Without those experiences, we would not fully understand the point. We would not fully understand life and we would not fully understand love. We would not fully understand the reason why you and I are here which is to experience the polarities and to gain more knowledge on the light and love.

I hope this concept gives you solace for the dark things you or someone you love has experienced. While this doesn't give an excuse for it, and doesn't make it any more acceptable, it does help us to understand the human experience a little bit better.
