Don't Follow the Money

Hey career changers - don’t do what I did when the Universe forced me to take a real good look down the path I was on.

The TV station I worked for went under, and a few months into being unemployed and completely bombing all my interviews (the Universe really didn’t want me going back to my former employer), I became incredibly impatient in the process of finding a purposeful career. I ended up taking a job out of desperation that I knew was completely wrong for me, but the money was so good, I would have been a fool to say no. Well, I paid for this mistake and wouldn't wish that payment on anyone else.
Just after two weeks of knocking on doors to sell solar panels, I quit and spent the next three years torturing myself with guilt, shame and disappointment. I felt like a complete failure for a long time after that job, even though it was definitely the right move for me. I used it as an excuse to put myself down and live in low self worth.
While the whole experience hurt me more than it helped me, I did learn invaluable lessons in my short time there, and I truly believe the Universe still gives us gifts even when we aren’t in alignment with our Soul’s desires. With that said, I also learned that anytime I don’t listen to my heart, I will end up right where I started.
Be patient in this process. It’s not going to happen when you want it to, it will happen when it is meant to. In the meantime, listen to what you want and always follow the things that light you up. Don’t follow the money - you’re happiness isn’t there! It is inside of you, waiting for you to listen.
